The Acting Undersecretary of the Ministry of Education, Dr. Hamad Saeed Osman, met yesterday in his office  the EU-IOM Joint Initiative programme manager in Sudan, Alia Hirji, along with the Chairman of the Expatriates Secretariat, Makin Ahmed Makin.

The meeting dealt with ways to reintegrate children returning from the diaspora into education.

The EU-IOM Joint Initiative programme manager in Sudan, said that the organization has an extended partnership with the Sudanese Expatriates Secretariat in the implementation of the joint initiative project of the European Union and the International Organization for Migration Protection and Reintegration, which was launched in 2017, revealing that  over 6,500  Sudanese migrants arrived in Sudan from Libya, Egypt and Niger and a large number of migrant communities in Libya are expected to return home.

She added that we hope for joint work and cooperation with the Ministry of Education, the Sudanese Expatriate Secretariat and the organization to reintegrate the child returnees in school.

The Undersecretary of the Ministry of Education described the project as an important work, stressing the Ministry’s commitment to making the necessary arrangements and coordinating with the concerned circles and  Organizations to admit and reintegrate the child returnees into public education, directing the signing of a memorandum of understanding between the three parties to frame  work and develop appropriate mechanisms to follow up and implement this directives.

He expressed his happiness with the cooperation of the international community and its support for the educational process, lauding the efforts of the IOM in this aspect.
