Defense Minister commends South Sudan’s following up on Juba Agreement

Defense Minister Major General Yassin Ibrahim noted that the Juba Peace Mediation Committee reviewed this morning the progress of work in implementing the Juba Agreement, and that the Darfur Track Security Arrangements Committee presented the difficulties facing the implementation of the Juba Agreement and provided an integrated summary of all stages.

The Defense Minister said: “We hope that the security arrangements protocol will be implemented in the Darfur track”, praising the efforts of the State of South Sudan in sponsoring and following up the implementation of the Juba Agreement and its knowledge of the obstacles facing the implementation of the arrangements program.

This came during the enlightenment provided by the Security Arrangements Committee on the Darfur Track today at the committee’s buildings in Khartoum, in the presence of Defense Minister Major General Yassin Ibrahim, to Dhieu Mathok Diing, the Minister of Investment of South Sudan and a member of the mediation team for peace talks in Sudan.

The Security Arrangements Committee, the Darfur track, chaired  by Major General Dr. Abu Bakr Abu Degin Fageri, in the presence of the alternate president, Lieutenant-General Dr. Suleiman Sandal, and members of the committee, and the participation of the delegation of the  State

of South Sudan, led chaired and members of his delegation.

Dhieu Mathok Diing noted: “ we have got knowledge with the progress of implementing the security arrangements on the Darfur track”, pointing out that the main step is to provide a permanent headquarters, praising the role of the Minister of Defense and Chairman of the Security Arrangements Committee on the Darfur track, stressing the importance of assembling and integrating forces in addition to demobilizing the remainder, he indicated that this represents an important stage in achieving stability and the democratic transformation stressing: “Sudan is an important country”.

Meanwhile, Dhieu has called on local and external active partners, especially the United Nations, to work to provide technical and financial support, especially that the United Nations representative aims to achieve stability and democratic transformation, noting that the State of South Sudan seeks to achieve stability, asserting: “the stability of Sudan represents stability for South Sudan”.

The head of the Security Arrangements Committee, the Darfur track, Major General Dr. Abu Bakr Abu Degin Fageri, indicated the importance of the follow-up to the implementation of the Juba Agreement, Darfur track, reassuring that all procedures have been completed for the deployment of security forces in Darfur, and all necessary preparations have been made, indicating theavailability of political and security will, pointing to the capabilities which previously formed an obstacle , stressing: “we will work with our national capabilities to deploy security forces in Darfur”.
