Al-Burhan affirms Sudan’s keenness to enhance bilateral relations with the United Kingdom

The President of the Transitional Sovereignty Council (TSC), Gen. Abdel-Fattah Al-Burhan, has affirmed Sudan’s keenness to enhance bilateral relations with the United Kingdom, and to advance joint cooperation between the two countries, due to the historical relations that bind them.

This came when Al-Burhan met at the Republican Palace today Director General, Africa at the UK’s Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office Moazzam Malik in the presence of the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Nader Yusuf, and the British Ambassador to Sudan, Giles Lever.

Al-Burhan briefed the UK official on overall current developments in the Sudan and the efforts exerted to make the dialogue between the Sudanese parties a success.

The meeting also discussed bilateral relations between Khartoum and London and ways to promote them, as well as regional and international issues of mutual concern.

Regarding dialogue, Al-Burhan renewed his commitment to a comprehensive dialogue process that leads to consensus between the parties, as it is the only way out of the current crisis, stressing his support for the UN initiative led by UNITAMS, and his welcome to all internal and external initiatives that would encourage dialogue and make it successful.

For his part, the  British official affirmed his country’s keenness to strengthen and develop relations with Khartoum, reiterating London’s commitment to supporting the process of dialogue between the Sudanese, which leads to achieving national consensus.
