Al-Burhan Affirms Firmness of Sudanese – Egyptian Relations

Khartoum,  (SUNA) – The President of the Transitional Sovereignty Council, Gen. Abdul-Fattah Al-Burhan, received on Thursday the visiting delegation of the Egyptian civil society, headed by ambassador Mohamed Al-Arabi, and in the presence of Egypt Ambassador to Sudan, Hussam Zaki.

Al-Burhan has welcomed the delegation’s visit to Sudan, indicating that such visits contribute to consolidating relations between the two brotherly peoples, praising Egypt’s supportive stances for Sudan in the regional and international forums.

He gave to the Egyptian delegation a detailed briefing on the current situation and the efforts made to make the transitional period a success by emphasizing non-exclusion and achieving consensus that is acceptable to all and leads to free and fair elections in which the Sudanese people choose who is to govern them.

On his part, the head of the Egyptian delegation, ambassador Mohamed El-Arabi, said in a press statement that the meeting was fruitful and positive, in which the developments in the situation in Sudan were reviewed, indicating that the delegation’s visit to Sudan emanates from the brotherhood and friendship that link the two countries.

He expressed his hope that Sudan will witness a new phase of reconciliation, adding that “stability in Egypt will not be complete without stability in Sudan”.

He said that the visits of the civil society delegations in the two countries will continue, stressing that such initiatives will contribute to strengthening the popular diplomacy between the two brotherly countries.
