​​​​​​​Volker: We will help Sudan to end the current crisis

– The Special Representative of the UN Secretary General, the Head of the United Nations Integrated Transitional Assistance Mission in Sudan (UNITAMS), Volker Perthes has announced that he will exert utmost efforts to help the Sudanese people to end the current crisis and to return to the constitutional situation that achieves democratic civil rule.

Volker speaking at a press conference held, Today, in Corinthia Hotel in Khartoum affirmed his readiness to facilitate the peaceful process for solving the country’s problem, pointing out that the solution is always in the hands of the Sudanese themselves.

The international official called on the Sudanese people to resort to wisdom and return to the dialogue table, stressing that they have no right to intervene in Sudan’s affairs, especially, the election of the Prime Minister.

He denied rumors that they would choose the prime minister, pointing out that the Sudanese are the ones who have the right to do so.

Volker stressed the need to reach a solution to

Sudan’s issues as soon as possible, saying that, “We must find a solution as soon as possible during this year and will not be able to address all the outstanding problems, but rather we should devote our efforts to resolving this crisis, by strengthening and re-establishing the lost trust between the Sudanese parties” He added.

He called for the necessity for reaching a consensus on national issues and speeding up the formation of the Legislative Council, in addition to the agreement to form a government of competencies during the transitional period, stressing that they will cooperate with the Sudanese in order to reach the realization of the path of the real transition that ends with civilian rule.
