rls Dr. Salma Abdul-Jabar Inspects Daoud Abdul-Latif University City for Girls

Member of the Transitional Sovereignty Council, Dr. Salma Abdul-Jabar Al-Mubarak, inspected on Daoud Abdul-Latif University City for Girls in Khartoum and got informed on the level of the services and security procedures in the university city.

Dr. Salma addressed in the evening a cultural and educational program for the girl students at the university cities, appreciating the role of the Sudanese women in the various fields of public work.

She emphasizing that the empowerment of women is for the good of the society, indicating that creating a favorable university housing environment is one of the main issues that the state is paying increasing attention to.

The member of the Sovereignty Council appreciated the concern of the Vice-President of the Transitional Sovereignty Council, Gen. Mohamed Hamdan Daglo, with the student issues and his sponsorship to activities and programs that serve the stability of the university student, in addition to his sponsorship of the national campaign to combat drug and treatment of addiction in cooperation with the Awafi Initiative.

On his part, the Secretary General of the National Student Welfare Fund, Prof. Issam Babiker Abbas, announced that the fund has signed a contract with the University Police

to ensure the security and safety of the girl students at the university cities and boarding houses.

He said that the National Student Welfare Fund also formed a women committee to assume solution of girl students’ problems by providing health, psychological and social solutions.

The Secretary-General of the fund has praised the decision taken by the Vice-President of the Transitional Sovereignty Council to reduce housing fees in university cities from 25,000 pounds to 10,000 pounds, stressing that the Student Welfare Fund will work hard to prepare a suitable environment to the students for the academic pursuit.
