Sudan Chairs IGAD Experts Meeting on Blue Economy

The high-level Experts Meeting for adoption  of Inter-Governmental Authority on Development (IGAD) Blue Economy Strategy opened  in Addis Ababa today.

The strategy will be adopted in the ministerial meeting on Friday where Minister of Finance and Economic Planning will chair Sudan’s delegation  to the ministerial meeting.

Director of Regional Organizations Department at Ministry of Foreign Affairs , Ambassador Magdi Mufadal pointed to importance of regional strategy  for the blue economy to achieve the aspired transformation in the region, achieve strategic vision  that creates peace , prosperity and regional integration , besides its role in  implementing  the continental strategy on blue economy and  achieving  economic and social development in the IGAD member states.

He stressed the need of the states of the region to support of its regional and international partners amid huge challenges  that the region is facing  in areas of peace, security, economy, food security and environment.

The Sudan’s delegation participating in the meeting included representatives of Ministries of Foreign Affairs, Finance and Economic Planning and Animal Resources as well as representative of the Higher Council for Environment.
