President of Sovereignty Council Receives Written Message from President Salva Kiir

The President of the Transitional Sovereignty Council, Gen. Abdul-Fattah Al-Burhan, has received a written message from the President of the Republic of South Sudan, Salva Kiir Mayardit, regarding bilateral relations and ways to advance prospects for joint cooperation.

The message was handed over to Gen. Al-Burhan by the Advisor of South Sudan President, Tut Galwak, who said in a press statement that the message touched on the file of peace in South Sudan and its implementation, as Sudan is the head of the current session of the IGAD Organization and is one of the main guarantors of the South Sudan Peace Agreement.

Galwak pointed out that the meeting also dealt with the overall situation in Sudan and South Sudan, noting that he briefed the President of the Sovereignty Council on the efforts made by the government of South Sudan to implement the agreement.

He referred to the visit of the member of the Sovereignty Council, General Shams-Eddin Kabbashi, to Juba in last March and the meetings he held with the aim of supporting implementation of the peace agreement in South Sudan.

He stressed the commitment of all parties to the peace agreement in South Sudan to implement the agreement to ensure peace and stability, noting that the President of the Sovereign Council affirmed Sudan’s support for this agreement and its continuation.

Galwak indicated that the meeting also touched on the implementation of Juba agreement for peace in Sudan, indicating that big numbers of Sudanese displaced persons and refugees in Sudan are preparing to return voluntarily to their home areas in the Blue Nile.
