Police Forces’ Inspector General meets IGAD Director of Freedom of Movement Project

Khartoum,  (SUNA) – The Deputy Director General and Inspector General of the Police Forces Lt. Gen. Police Dr. Osman Mohamed Younus has met with the Director of the International Project on the Freedom of Movement at the UN International Labor Organization (ILO) Ms Kumba Diop and her accompanying delegation in the presence of the Director General of Passports and Migration At the outset of the meeting, Lt. Gen. Younus welcomed the visit, which he considered was timely to discuss one of the important issues in the course of freedom of movement among the IGAD countries, stressing the concern of the Police Headquarters with the project by establishing the Migration Center and seeking to sign protocols to take measures to make the project a success. For her part, Ms. Diop revealed the objectives of her visit, which started with a meeting with the Minister of Labor and then with the General Federation of Sudanese Trade Unions, where she extended full explanation on the project, revealing that the visit came within the framework of triggering the project activities in IGAD countries. She also briefed on the project, which came within the framework of creating a mechanism to coordinate migration through training and capacity building for migration experts, stressing that their training will continue for a whole year in a number of IGAD countries and European countries such as Italy as well as providing experts with work equipment to assist countries in the management of the project. Opportunities were given to Sudan nominate (5) experts representing the Ministries of Labor, Interior and Foreign Affairs, in addition to the Sudan Center for Migration and Development Studies of the Organ of the Sudanese Working abroad Affairs. He stressed that the project aims to assist in the establishment of policies, legislation and laws to facilitate migration among IGAD countries and to the Gulf and Europe, pointing out that Sudan is one of the founders of IGAD in 1986.
