Foreign Minister Receives Ambassador of Ethiopia

The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Ali Al-Saddiq, Wednesday morning received in his office the Ambassador of Ethiopia to Sudan, Yibeltal Aemero, and discussed a number of issues of mutual concern and ways to strengthen further the bilateral relations between the two countries.

The Ethiopian ambassador affirmed that there are positive developments in the relations between the two countries regarding controversial issues such as the Renaissance Dam and the border issue, in light of the recent visit of the Vice President of the Transitional Sovereignty Council to Addis Ababa, and his meeting with a number of Ethiopian officials.

The Ambassador of Ethiopia praised the improvement in the bilateral relations between the two countries and the need to strengthen further the cooperation for the benefit of the two brotherly peoples.

The Ethiopian Ambassador stated that relations between his country and Sudan remain strategic and exceptional, pointing to his country’s readiness to discuss issues through dialogue and positive communication away from media escalation.

He said that whatever the differences, the direct communication channels between Sudan and Ethiopia should not stop.

The minister has refuted the allegations on Sudan support for the Tigray Liberation Front, stressing that Sudan did not support any party against another.
