Daglo holds joint talks with Russian FM Sergey Lavrov

The Vice-President of the TRANSITIONAL Sovereignty Council, Lt-General, Mohammed Hamdan Daglo, currently on a visit here, held joint talks with the Russian Foreign Minister, Sergey Lavrov in the presence of the Minister of Finance, Dr. Jibril Ibrahim, Minister of Agriculture and Forests, Dr. Anu-Bakr Omar Al-Bushra, Minister of Energy and Oil, Abdalla Mahmoud, the Acting Undersecretary of Foreign Ministry, Ambassador, Nader Yousef Al-Tayeb, Chairman of the Federation of Commercial Chambers , Nader Al-Hilali and the Charge affairs of the Sudanese embassy in Moscow, Ambassador Onour Ahnmed Onour.

The talks reviewed means for development of spheres of cooperation between Sudan and Russia in different fields, besides the consultations on the bilateral of regional and international issues of common interest

The talks also, covered. He necessity for expanding the base of commercial, political and economic fields.

The two sides agreed to speed up the reactivation of the existing agreement between them and holding of the meetings of the Joint Ministerial committee.

Addressing the talks, the TSC Vice-President expressed the Sudanese government’s gratitude for the continuous support that Russia has been providing towards Sudan in all international forums, especially in

the UN Security Council and the United Nations, lauding the Russian people’s support for the Sudanese people throughout history, which helped strengthen the bonds of friendship to high level

He pointed out that the visit confirmed Sudan’s determination to push forward the relations between the two countries to broader horizons, in addition to strengthening the existing cooperation in order to benefit from the common capabilities of the two countries, noting that the talks with the Minister of Foreign Affairs contributed to creating new understandings that will push joint action to take advantage of the great opportunities that have been presented. Sudan provides them in the fields of agriculture, mining, manufacturing, oil and gas and other economic fields.

The Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, on his part,  stressed the depth of Russian-Sudanese relations, pointing out that what unites the two countries is that they are similar in many things, which helped create extended friendship ties based on mutual respect.

He stressed his country’s keenness to raise the level of cooperation with Sudan in the fields of energy, agriculture, mining, and environmental protection.

He explained that Sudanenjoys promising opportunities that will change the reality of the country in the future, calling for the removal of many complications that hinder the flow of Russian investments, including investment laws, pointing to the readiness of Russian companies to start investment operations in Sudan.
