Al-Burhan Receives European Union Envoy to Horn of Africa

 The President of the Transitional Sovereignty Council, Gen. Abdul-Fattah Al-Burhan, received Wednesday in his office the European Union envoy to the Horn of Africa, Annette Weber, and the European Union Ambassador to Sudan, Aidan O’Hara, in the presence of the actin Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Ali Al-Saddiq.

At the meeting, the President of the Sovereignty Council gave a briefing about the overall developments in the political process, stressing the commitment of the military institution to the political process.

He affirmed the need for completing the political and national consensus process, stressing the importance of achieving stability for Sudan as part of the regional stability system in the region.

The President of the Sovereignty Council renewed his full keenness to solve the outstanding problems through negotiation and openness to all the initiatives aimed to achieving stability of Sudan.

“The stability of Sudan is based on the establishment of a unified national army through the implementation of the reforming the security system and the reintegration”, Al-Burhan said.

On her part, the European Union envoy to the Horn of Africa affirmed the European Union’s support to the political process in Sudan, and called on all parties to move forward towards a political agreement that lead to a transitional government.

She expressed her optimism about the possibility of reaching an agreement as long as there is political will.
