Workshop to Review Draft National Strategy for Blue Economy to start Sunday in Port-Sudan

The Undersecretary of Planning at the Ministry of Finance and Economic Planning, Dr. Bashar Mohamed Bashar, arrived in the Red Sea State, accompanied by a number of IGAD experts, administrators and specialists in the field of blue economy.

He was received at Port-Sudan Airport by a representative of the state government and a number of administrators in the state.

The visit comes within the framework of reviewing and approving the draft national strategy for the blue economy, via the workshop to be held in Port Sudan on Sunday and will continue until February 28.

It is worth mentioning that the draft national strategy for the blue economy was prepared due to  the regional strategy for IGAD by a number of national experts and representatives of a number of ministries and relevant authorities.

The approval of the National Strategy for the Blue Economy is an important means for establishing development partnerships with regional and international institutions and bilateral cooperation countries.

The IGAD countries are witnessing great interaction and movement in order to approve their strategies and benefit from the enormous resources that abound in the countries of the region.

According to Sudan News Agency (SUNA) the blue economy is relating to the sustainable use and conservation of water resources such as oceans, seas, rivers and all water bodies in order to directing the economic growth, improving livelihoods along with creating jobs while ensuring the preservation of the environment, cultural values and biodiversity.
