Workshop on National Vision for Combating Hate Speech to be Held

The National Anti-Terrorism Authority will organize a workshop under the title: “Towards a National Vision for Combating and Addressing Hate Speech” at 09: a.m. on Monday, August 23, 2021 at the Higher Academy for Strategic and Security Studies under the program of “Together Against Violent Extremism” program, within the framework of the partnership project with the United Nations Development Program (UNDP).

The Director of the National Anti-Terrorism Authority, Maj. Gen. Isam Marzouk, explained that holding the workshop comes in the context of the efforts to strengthen the government efforts in addressing the root causes and the motivating factors of hate speech and enabling the transitional government to formulate effective responses to the impact of hate speech on societies in terms of the support to the peace efforts, the democratic transformation and social peace.

He revealed that experts from Rwanda, South Africa and Iraq will participate in the workshop to reflect the experiences of their countries in the combat of terrorism and the impact of hate speech on their societies.

He also pointed to the participation of the United Nations Counter-Terrorism Office, the UNITAMS mission and a number of representatives of diplomatic missions in the workshop.
