Sudanese Human Rights Commission calls for ratification of international conventions

Chairman of the Steering Committee of the Sudanese National Human Rights Commission, Dr. Rifaat Mirghani called on states to have clear policies in the field of human rights protection, as well as to take strong measures and arrangements in this field.

Dr. Mirghani, further called on the Sudanese government to ratify all eighteen United Nations human rights treaties (9 conventions and 9 protocols).

The human rights official addressing the training course on Human Rights, Monday, explained that Sudan has ratified only 5 agreements, as well as two protocols of human rights protocols.

In the second session, Professor Reda Abdel Aziz, the legal expert and advisor to the Arab Network for National Human Rights Institutions, introduced the participants in the training course to the United Nations human rights committees and bodies.

In the final session, the participants were divided into working groups and brainstorming that apply the knowledge and skills they have acquired on how to establish virtual national institutions that are compatible with the Paris Principles of 1993.
