Sudan -Saudi Arabia joint cooperation in field of blue economy urged

The Sudanese economic expert, Dr. Abu-Bakr Al-Tigani Al-Haj Mohamed has called for enhancing cooperation with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in the field of blue economy that includes all activities related to seas, rivers, water and the oceans, in order to utilize the huge minerals and natural resources in Red Sea within international and territorial waters.

Dr. Mohamed pointed out in statement to SUNA that Sudan has a huge untapped mineral and petroleum resources. stressing that there has been a previous cooperation between Sudan and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in the field of exploiting the Red Sea resources for the interests of the two sisterly peoples.

He also referred to IGAD Strategy, for the Blue Economy, for the period 2021- 2025.

The strategy is set for boosting cooperation in all economic fields related to water and marine resources, the environment, marine tourism, and marine and river navigation.
