Salih: no contradiction between Anti-Corruption Commission and Empowerment Removal Committee

Member of the committee to dismantle the regime of June 30, 1989, Wagdi Salih, has praised the approval of the anti-corruption act and blessed the establishment of the commission, stressing that its powers do not conflict with the work of the Empowerment Removal Committee, considering them a constitutional entitlement.

Salih criticized the promoters of existence of a contradiction, which he described as being made and that it is a battle in the wrong place, saying that they at the committee will continue its work in dismantling the political system that had lasted for thirty years and had empowered itself within the civil service institutions and created economic and organizational interfaces for it.

He said in a statement to SUNA that they have been among the people who are most keen on establishing the commission and passing its law, but without prejudice to what was stipulated in the Constitutional Document to dismantle the June 30 regime.

Salih added that the act which was approved by a joint session of the Sovereignty Council and the Cabinet yesterday as a constitutional entitlement, explained the powers of the commission and removing any conflict that might arise the with committee to dismantle the June 30 regime.

He stressed that the transitional authority is moving forward with all its institutions to dismantle the June 30 regime in its economic and organizational institutions and facades to reach a stage upon which a democratic system can be built that maintains peace, security and stability to bring about a transformation in the country.

Salih explained that the committee is concerned with dismantling the regime of June 30, 1989 until the fall of the regime on April 11, 2019, and its mission is to dismantle the political system, while the commission combats corruption.
