Ministry of Finance, Saudi Fund for Development Hold Talks over Sudan Debits

Undersecretary of Planning, at Ministry of Finance Mohamed Bashar Mohamed has discussed with the delegation of the Saudi Fund for Development, The arrears of The Sudanese debits. The Saudi delegation visited the country in the period from March27to March 29   upon a request from the Minister of Finance to the President of the Saudi Fund for Development.  The undersecretary explained  that the visit aims at normalizing relations between Sudan and the Fund and arranges for debts owed to the Fund in order the latter resumes financing projects in the country.  He said Fund’s delegation sat with technicians from the Ministry of Finance and the Bank of Sudan with view of reaching an acceptable settlement for the indebted parties in preparation for the resumption of the Fund’s activities in Sudan.He pointed out that the meeting took place between the fund delegation and officials of the Ministry of Finance and the Bank of Sudan, stressing possibility of reaching proposals to deal with arrears then submitted them to the Fund’s management, for approval and an agreement. The two-side meeting represented by Head of Saudi Fund for Development Mission, Director of the Fund financing Department Ayman Mohamed Al-Tulahi.  While Sudanese side represented by officials from the Ministry of Finance, External Finance Department and the Bank of Sudan.

The Undersecretary noted, that a proposed agreement is expected to be signed during joint meetings of Arab financial institutions, scheduled to take place next April in Rabat, capita of Moroccan. Undersecretary of Economic Planning explained the current economic situation, stressing Sudan’s keenness to settle arrears and resumes the relationship with the fund.  For his part, Al-Talihi, stressed the strength relationship  between Sudan and the Fund.
