Minister of Religious Affairs Concludes Visit to West Darfur State

The Minister of Religious Affairs and Endowments Nasr-Eddin Mufareh, concluded on Thursday a several-day visit to Genaina city during which he toured areas in West and Central Darfur States.

In a press statement, the minister said that he reviewed during the visit the overall humanitarian, security and social conditions in the two states, pointing out that the humanitarian situation in West Darfur refers to a humanitarian catastrophe due to the displacement of about 1,000 citizens to shelter centers, which may require urgent aid in the field of food, medicine and clothing.

Mufareh pointed to the response of the federal government to this disaster through the Council of Ministers by intervening to provide humanitarian aid in order to help the affected people return to their home areas after stabilization of the security situation, revealing a plan for his ministry in the coming period to launch another convoy to West Darfur state with the aim support the social peace and the peaceful coexistence.

On his part, the Wali (governor) of West Darfur State, Gen. Khamis Abdalla Abbkar, praised the efforts of the ministerial delegation in holding training workshops in social peace for the people of the state, declaring his government’s endeavor to prepare for an inclusive conference with the participation of all the people of the state in support of steps to enhance the peaceful coexistence.
