– The 21st regular session of the Executive Council of the Sahel-Saharan Community concluded its sittings Wednesday at the level of foreign ministers.
The session was held during March 29 – 30 in Rabat, Morocco, to enhance the neighborliness relations and cooperation among the member countries in the community, including Sudan.
The delegation of Sudan was head by the acting Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Ali Al-Saddiq Ali.
The agenda of the session included a number of important political and security issues in some of the community countries.
The session discussed security factors and achieving development in the Sahel-Saharan Community countries, and approved establishment of an anti-terrorism center to be based in Cairo, Egypt.
The meeting also discussed the return of the Executive Secretariat to its Headquarters in Tripoli, Libya, in addition to several administrative and financial issues, the reactivation of the work structures of the Sahel-Sahara community.
It is to be noted that the session was preceded by a preparatory meeting of the ambassadors, experts and representatives of the member’s states at which the Director of the General Department of African Affairs, Ambassador
Hassan Abdel-Slam Omer, has participated.
The Rabat Declaration and the report of the meeting on the work of the session was issued at the end of the session.
