IMF Approves the Agreement Signed With Sudan

Khartoum (SUNA)  – The Executive  Council of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) approved the agreement it signed with Sudan Transitional Government which will pave the way for overcoming the economic difficulties facing the Sudanese people , remove the structural distortions caused by the defunct regime and realization of the requested stability to achieve the just and sustainable peace in the country.

The Acting Minister of Finance and Economic Planning, Dr. Hiba Mohammed Ali outlined that the implementation of the necessary reforms will produce concrete benefits for the Sudanese people, top of which, writing off Sudan’s debt arrears according to Sudan’s access to the “decision point” of the Heavily Indebted Poor Countries Program (HIPC), which will pave the way for ultimately exempting Sudan’s $ 60 billion debts, allowing the countryto obtain funding for major development and

The implementation of the program will make Sudan eligible for more than $ 1.5 billion annually in direct development grants to stimulate investment and revive the economy to create special job opportunities for young men and women and increase revenues and exports.
