Governor of S. Kordofan: Hostilities between Arifab and Hawazma Stopped

The Wali (governor) of South Kordofan State, Dr. Hamid Al-Bashir, affirmed that the hostilities have now stopped in the dispute between the tribes of Al-Arifab Kenana and Wad Ramli Al-Hawazma in the state as a result of the efforts and concerted efforts of the various state organs in Gadeer Locality.

At the press forum of Sudan News Agency (SUNA) Saturday, Dr. Al-Bashir said that the dispute between Arifab and Wad Ramli Hawazma has witnessed escalation, indicating that 13 initiatives have been launched to halt the tribal dispute, but they failed, because the dispute was one the resources and managed by circles outside the tribes and have special agenda.

He called for special arrangements and adoption of policies for mining that guarantee historical rights and preserve the community cohesion in the state.

The Wali (governor) of South Kordofan referred to the efforts of the state and the central government to contain this dispute and to maintain the unity of the country and the social entity, adding that the loyalty to the tribe outweighs loyalty to the homeland and religion.

He affirmed the quest now is to establish community peace and to restore the accord between the components in preparation for completing the peace process.

The Wali (governor) indicated that the issue of revenge is a source of concern for his government because the geographical area of the state is very large and the traditional agriculture is practiced and the military presence all over is difficult, adding he looks for an increased role of the native administration and the Sufi and religious groups to help in the control of situation.

He said that his government is keen to patch up the rift in the social fabric and to pave the way for reconciliations and restoring the tribal co-existence.

Dr. Al-Bashir added that forces were stationed at the entrances of the localities in the state and the law is being applied to avoid threat to the national peace and security and to achieve future solution
