Foreign Ministry Welcomes Ceasefire between Palestine and Israel

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has welcomed the entry into force of the declaration of a ceasefire between the Palestinian factions and Israel, and highly appreciated the sincere efforts made by the brothers in Egypt, Qatar and Jordan, in addition to the US administration, the European Union and the United Nations in this regard.

The statement stated that the Foreign Ministry supports the call of the Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas, on the importance of political process under the umbrella of the International Quartet to accompany this step with the aim to ending the Israeli occupation and establishing an independent Palestinian state with Eastern Guds as its capital on the borders of June 4, 1967, in accordance with the two-state solution and the international legitimacy decisions toward achieving Security and stability in the region.

The Foreign Ministry called on the international community, and the US administration in particular, to take measures to prevent the recurrence of the deliberate violations and grave attacks on the rights of the Palestinian people that occurred during this dangerous escalation, which led to the loss of many innocent lives and the wounding of numerous people as well as the destruction of the infrastructures and property of unarmed citizens.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs also called on the international community to expedite the provision of aid and compensations for the reconstruction of the destroyed areas and to alleviate the humanitarian situation.
