The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Dr. Mariam Al-Saddiq Al-Mahdi, Saturday received in her office the Algerian Foreign Affairs Minister and the National Community Abroad, Ramadane Lamamra, and discussed the cooperation between Sudan and Algeria, the issue of the Renaissance Dam and the Libyan file.
Dr. Mariam has welcomed the Algerian Foreign Minister and the National Community Abroad and briefed him on the developments in the Renaissance Dam issue.
She indicated that Khartoum is seeking to reach a diplomatic solution to the Renaissance Dam crisis, and stressed Sudan firm position represented in the need for a binding legal agreement on the filling and operation of the Renaissance Dam.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs expressed her hope that Ethiopia would return to wisdom in dealing with the Sudanese situation with responsibility and will.
She indicated that Sudan is concerned about the situation in Ethiopia and is keen on stability in it.
She affirmed the necessity of coordinating efforts to help the Libyan parties reach an agreement and achieve a solution that leads to peace and stability, noting that Sudan will spare no effort in order to help achieving security and stability in Libya and to contain the conflict and repercussions of the situation on the neighboring countries and the region.
On his part, the Algerian Minister of Foreign Affairs and the National Community Abroad affirmed firmness of the bilateral relations between the two countries and the joint coordination in regional and international issues, indicating that Algeria aims to address the Renaissance Dam crisis by positively by availability of will and confidence among the parties to open prospects for negotiation.
He appreciated the role played by Sudan within the neighboring countries to help the brotherly Libya reach stability.
The Algerian minister has invited the Minister of Foreign Affairs to visit Algeria toward boosting the cooperation and coordination between Sudan and Algeria.
