Dr. Jibril: Completing Al-Gedarif Water Project Represents Government Priority

The Minister of Finance and Economic Planning, Dr. Jibril Ibrahim, said that the completion of Al-Gedarif State’s water project is one of the government’s priorities, noting that concern with the completion of the project comes in the context of the priorities for the year 2023 budget plan and the increasing of spending over the water, health and education sectors.

This came during the minister’s meeting in his office with the project’s delegation at the Ministry, while he gave directives to department in charge to complete the payment of the government’s obligations towards the project in order to accelerate its completion. The meeting also discussed the obstacles that impede the progress of the project and ways to address them.

The project’s Resident Eng. Manager Mohamed Salim noted that the total implementation rate of the project has reached 96% and the total cost of the project amounts to US$60 million, of which US$57.75 million is from the Islamic Bank Group in Jeddah allocated for financing the design and implementation contract, while the consulting services will be funded by the Government of Sudan with an amount equivalent to 2.25 million dollars.The Member of the Higher Technical Committee of Project, Eng. Al-Fatih Abdel Rahman Muhammadin, appreciated the interest of the Ministry of Finance that stressed  to complete the Al-Gedarif water project as a priority  particularly the Minister of Finance who affirmed  to complete the project as soon as possible.
