Defendant given two weeks to bring witnesses

The Court of Martyr Mahjoub Al-Taj, a medical student at Al-Razi University, who was assassinated on January 24, 2019, decided in its session, today at the Al-Diyum Courts Complex headed by Maulana Osman Abdel-Gader, the General Court Judge, has given the defense of the 8th defendant two weeks-period to bring his defense witnesses.

The defense team had indicated, at the beginning of the session that two defense witnesses refused to attend, today’s session fearing they would be charged under Article (130) pre-meditated murder and Article (121) criminal complicity, especially since the indictment committee had previously submitted a request on one of the witnesses to turn him into a defendant because he admitted that he was a member of the joint security teams that raided Al-Razi University on the day of the accident.

Maulana  Osman Abdul Gadir gave the defense team of the eighth accused a last opportunity to bring his defense witnesses.

Sona adds that (9) members of the Operations unit had been charged by the court with pre-meditated murder and criminal participation, while two others were released due to lack of evidence
