Darfur Regional Government concludes its eighth meeting

The Government of Darfur Region concluded on Tuesday its eighth meeting, which was chaired by the governor of the r region, Minni Arko Minawi, in the presence of the walis (governors) of the five states, ministers and advisors of the regional government.

The meeting discussed a number of important issues, most notably the security and stability situation, the agricultural season, the humanitarian and service situation and social peace besides implementation of the peace agreement.

The meeting agreed on activating the peacekeeping forces and the importance of their deployment in areas of instability, expediting security arrangements, and supporting police in the Darfur region.

The meeting further agreed on supporting the return of displaced people and refugees and welfare of youth besides establishment of five large agricultural projects in Darfur.

It also called for giving due concern to higher, technical and technological education
