Daglo meets UN Secretary General Special Envoy for the Horn of Africa

The Vice-President of the Transitional Sovereignty Council, Lt-General Mohammed Hamdan Daglo met , Today, in his office, in the Republican Palace, the United Nations Secretary General Special Envoy for the Horn of Africa Hanna Serwaa Tetteh in the presence of the Foreign Ministry Undersecretary, Dafalla Al-Haj Ali and the Chairman of the Committee Supervising Abyei Area, Major- General. The meeting discussed the situations in Abyei Area in the light of the recent developments.

The TSC Vice-President appreciated the efforts being exerted by the UN in the country and the area, besides the positive role that can be played by the international organization to bridge the gap in viewpoints to find solution concerning Abyei Area, affirming the necessity for communication between Sudan and the UN to facilitate data exchange and understand properly, what is going on.

Daglo underlined that Sudan and the Republic of South Sudan held a joint meeting recently and discussed the situations in the area, explaining that the two sides agreed on the importance of the joint work to deal with the situation in the area.

He called on the regional and international community to support the two countries in this connection.

For her part, the Special Envoy of the Secretary-General of the United Nations for the Horn of Africa lauded the constructive spirit shown by the two countries regarding reaching a final solution on the Abyei region, stressing the readiness of the United Nations to support the efforts of the two countries to reach a The international official indicated that she would brief the Security Council today, through which it will reflect Positive developments reached between Sudan and South Sudan regarding the region.
