The Embassy of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh in Khartoum celebrated today the International Mother Language Day which annually coincides with February 21.

The Minister of Culture and Information Dr. Graham Adel-Gadir attended the event besides a number of officials from international organizations and diplomatic missions in Khartoum.

Marking of the International Mother Language Day aims to preserving languages.

The Minister of Culture and Information affirmed that Sudan respects the diversity of international languages, saying languages reflect the cultures of peoples and their diversity.

Dr. Graham, furthermore, pointed out that the Sudanese people speak more than a hundred dialects and they respect all international languages.

The Minister expressed appreciation for the efforts exerted   by Bangladesh embassy for organizing the celebration which supports global cultural diversity.

For his part, Chargé d’Affaires of the Embassy of Bangladesh in Khartoum HE Tariq Ahmed said that the importance of celebrating the International Mother Language Day stems from the fact that it shows importance of language in developing science and diversity, cultural richness and sustainable development.

The Bangladeshi diplomat pointed to the actions taken by the Bangladeshi people for the recognition of the importance of preserving languages and developing them.

Meanwhile, HE Tariq expressed thanks to the Minister of Culture and Information, guests and diplomats for participation in the occasion.
