Ambassador President of Sovereignty Council receives Ugandan Ambassador

The President of the Transitional Sovereignty Council (TSC), Gen. Abdel-Fattah Al-Burhan, has affirmed Sudan’s keenness to develop and promote bilateral relations with the Republic of Uganda, and to strengthen joint coordination on regional issues.

This came when Al-Burhan received at the Republican Palace today the Ambassador of the Republic of Uganda to Sudan, H.E. James Kenobi, on the occasion of the expiry of his assignment to the country.

The President of the Transitional Sovereignty Council praised the advanced level of relations between Khartoum and Kampala.

In a press statement, the Ugandan Ambassador said that the meeting reviewed the overall course of bilateral relations between the two countries, in addition to the need for cooperation to consolidate peace and development in the region.

The ambassador said that he conveyed to the President of the Sovereignty Council a message from Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni, related to advancing bilateral cooperation between the two countries, in which

he explained his concern and follow-up on what is happening in Sudan, and Uganda’s commitment and willingness to unite its efforts with Sudan to find a solution to its issues, adding that President Museveni who sent through the message, his greetings to the President of the Sovereignty Council, Gen. Abdel-Fattah Al-Burhan, and praised his management of the crises that faced the transitional period, and stressed the importance of developing joint cooperation and coordinating positions between Sudan and Uganda, on the issues of the region.

The ambassador indicated that his country encourages all actors in the Sudanese scene to unite their efforts to reach a solution to their issues, noting that the countries of the region are currently seeking to unify their positions in addressing challenges within an approach that adopts African solutions to African issues.

He added that the issue of Sudan must be resolved by the Sudanese themselves for the sake of the development and stability of their country, provided that the efforts of the region complement it, pointing out that the efforts of IGAD in this regard are still continuing.

The ambassador pointed to the need for the Sudanese and Ugandan sides to work together to develop joint cooperation between them by activating the work of the joint ministerial committee between the two countries,headed by the foreign ministers of the two countries, to discuss aspects of joint cooperation, as it is scheduled, after easing Corona restrictions, that it would hold its next meeting in Khartoum, and would be followed by bilateral summit between the presidents of the two countries.
