Al-Burhan leaves for New York

The President of the Transitional Sovereignty Council (TSC)General Abdel-Fattah Al-Burhan , left this morning to New York City leading Sudan’s delegation participating in the work of the 77th session of the United Nations General Assembly.

He was seen off at Khartoum Airport by the Vice-President of the Sovereignty Council, Lieutenant-General Mohammed Hamdan Dagalo.

The TSC President is scheduled to deliver Sudan’s statement before the United Nations General Assembly on Thursday, 22 September.

He will also participate in high-level meetings to discuss strengthening multilateral cooperation with regard to various international and regional issues, in addition to the challenges facing the international community such as climate change and the food crisis and its consequences, especially on developing and least developed countries.

On the sidelines of the 77th session, the President of the Sovereignty Council will meet with a number of presidents from different countries of the world and representatives from international and regional organizations, to discuss ways of bilateral cooperation and the role of bilateral cooperation within the framework of the United Nations Organization to build a more stable future.

Over the course of a

week, about 150 heads of state and government from all over the world will deliver their speeches at this annual meeting.

The President of the Sovereignty Council is accompanied by Ambassador Ali Al-Sadiq, the Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs.
