The World Bank has described the economic reforms adopted by Sudan as bold and would put Sudan back on the road to recovery and resolve its debt burden.
World Bank Managing Director of Operations Axel van Trotsenburg said following a meeting with Prime Minister Abdullah Hamdouk on the sidelines of Paris conference on Sudan that the meeting was great during which he expressed his support to the economic reforms that were implemented recently by Sudan government.
Mr. Axel said in a statement over his Twitter account that “great to meet with Sudanese Prime Minister Hamdouk and express support for the country’s bold reforms to put Sudan back on the road to recovery and resolve its debt burden.”
He indicated that as the decision point for HIPC debt relief is approached, financial support from the international community is needed to ensure further arrears clearance.
Mr. Axel added “continued support will help Sudan weather shocks and deepen the reforms needed for growth and investment in its people.”
