UNITAMS Representative Visits Red Sea State

Port-Sudan,  (SUNA) – The representative of the UN Integrated Transition Assistance Mission in Sudan, Stephanie Koury, affirmed that the solution of East Sudan political problems necessitates dialogue between the central government in Khartoum and the Higher Council for the Beja Chieftains.

Ms. Koury and the accompanying delegation met Wednesday in Port-Sudan with the Wali (governor) of the Red Sea State engineer Abdalla Shingray and got informed on the general situation in the state and the requirements of East Sudan in the fields of development and humanitarian needs.

She said that in her three-day visit to the Red Sea State she will hear different views on East Sudan issue and solution proposals.

Koury indicated that she would meet during the visit with the Head of the Higher Council for Beja Chieftain, Tirik, the women sector at Sinkat Locality, the Director of Sea Port Corporation, the Undersecretary of the Red Sea University, the civil society organizations, the political parties, the resistance committees, the leaders of the native administration and the women sector, besides visiting the Beja Club.
