Turkish – African Media Summit begins Wednesday in Istanbu

Istanbul,  (SUNA) – The Turkish -African Media Summit began Wednesday at the Hilton Hotel in Istanbul, coinciding with Africa Day, which is celebrated every year.

The Director of Communications of the Republic of Turkey, Fakhruddin Altun, has addressed the summit stressing Turkey’s concern with the African relations and partnership with African countries.

He expressed his hope that the summit would be fruitful for both the Turkish and African sides, noting that the relations and partnership between the two sides are focused on building trust between peoples. He affirmed the keenness of the President of Turkey with the Turkish-African relations, reviewing the efforts exerted in this regard.

A number of journalists from different countries spoke as participants with a paper about the challenges faced by the media and the media professionals during the coronavirus pandemic period, and its impact on the society and the role that the media plays in this regard, especially in light of the increasing means of communication and the new media.

More than 80 journalists from 45 African countries, officials from public institutions, representatives of the private sector and non-governmental organizations in Turkey and Africa are taking part in the summit
