TSC Vice-President affirms strong relations between Sudan, South Sudan

– The Vice-President of the Transitional Sovereignty Council (TSC) and head of the Higher Committee for the Implementation of the Revitalized Peace Agreement of South Sudan, Gen. Mohamed Hamdan Daglo, has affirmed the strong fraternal relations between Sudan and South Sudan.

In a press statement upon his arrival at Juba Airport today, Daglo indicated that his visit and the accompanying delegation comes to see the progress of implementation of the peace agreement in South Sudan, pointing to their continuous contacts during the last period of the agreement’s term with President Salva Kiir and his first deputy, Riek Machar, to follow up on the implementation of the agreement.

He said “despite the problems that Sudan is facing, we have been following all developments in South Sudan as guarantors of the peace agreement.”

He added they would sit with all parties to find out the latest arrangements related to the implementation of the security arrangements, as

well as the progress of implementing the remaining provisions of the agreement, noting that the situation in South Sudan is witnessing stability, tranquility, and development.

On his part, South Sudan Presidential Advisor Tut Gatluak expressed his country’s welcome to the visit of the Vice President of the Sovereignty Council and the accompanying delegation, praising the efforts of Gen. Daglo in achieving peace in South Sudan and his contribution to building confidence between the parties.

He pointed out that the visit aims to see the implementation of the peace agreement in South Sudan, especially the security arrangements article.
