Troika Statement on Hamdouk’s Initiative

– The Troika delegation to Sudan and South Sudan (US-Britain and Norway) on Thursday, issued press statement on the visit  to Khartoum during July 4-6.

The statement underlined that the visit comes in the wake of the launching of Prime Minister Abdalla Hamdok’s initiative to achieve the goals of the revolution and the announcement by the International Monetary Fund that recent economic reforms in Sudan have led to the liquidation of Sudan’s arrears to the World Bank, the African Development Bank and the International Monetary Fund, opening the door for obtaining new billions of dollars to improve the quality of life for the Sudanese.

The statement also indicated that Robert Fairweather,. Donald Booth and. Andre Stansen, the Envoys of the United Kingdom, US and the Norway met the Prime Minister, Dr. Abdalla Hamdouk, the President of the Transitional Sovereignty Council, Gen. Abdel Fattah Al-Burhan and other government prominent figures to welcome the Prime Minister’s Initiative and the possibility for booting the implementation of the initiative.

The Troika Envoys welcomed the government to transfer the accused of the International Criminal Court (ICC) to the Hgue.

The statement indicated that the Troika member-states agreed to follow up its role as a witness and guarantor for Juba Peace Agreement in June 8 and deliberated on the decisive steps that will follow the implementation of the agreement including the formation of the joint forces for the protection of the civilians in Darfur, setting up of an independent credible Monitoring Mechanism and the formation of the Legislative Council.

The Troika representative have earlier visited Kauda, South Kordofan, to meet the SPLM/N led by Abdel Aziz Al-Hilo to discuss with him the resumption of the peace negotiations in accordance with the Declaration of Principles  signed by the government and the movement.
