Tawer: Decisions of Higher Committee Based on Health Reports

Member of the Transitional Sovereignty Council and chairman of the higher committee for emergencies, Prof. Siddiq Tawer, pointed out that the decisions taken by the committee were based on the reports of the Ministry of Health and the concerned authorities in the country.

At the regular news forum of Sudan News Agency (SUNA) Wednesday, Prof. Tawer affirmed the committee’s adherence to protection of the system that can be affected by the coronavirus pandemic, including the educational, agricultural and economic systems.

He reviewed in his address the decisions taken by the higher committee for health emergencies, which decided suspension of studying in all universities and schools for a period of one month starting from the date of the decision, stoppage of mass prayers and rituals in all places of worship, in addition to preventing entry of all those coming through all crossings directly from India or through other countries.

He pointed out that the committee pointed in its evening statement to the possibility of reducing the number of workers in various work institutions according to the assessment of the decision-maker in the institution, taking into account the conditions of people with chronic diseases, the elderly and special cases such as pregnant and lactating women etc.

Prof. Tawer also pointed to the possibility that that the number of the coronavirus-affected people would exceed 100,000 cases in the first and second week of June 2021 if the situation continues as it is now without adhering to health controls and the precautions, which will result in more deaths and deterioration of the situation into a catastrophic one.
