Raising farmers’ financing ceiling to 1,500 million pounds

– The Director General of the Microfinance Department at the Central Bank of Sudan (CBOS) Seif-Eddin Ahmed Barri chaired Tuesday a meeting at the CBOS headquarters in Khartoum included the Governor of Gezira Scheme Dr. Omer Marzoug and other officials to review preparations for the new agricultural season 2022-2023. Meanwhile, the Governor of the Gezira Scheme announced a joint committee woulb be formed including the scheme administration and microfinance companies in order to provide financing directly to farmers according to their wishes, asserting that the Gezira scheme administration pledge to provide technical services in the areas of extension, prevention and Seed propagation. The Director General of Microfinance Department at the Central Bank of Sudan announced raising the ceiling of funding for farmers from 900,000 pounds to 1,500 million pounds. A coordinating workshop was decided to be held during the coming days including microfinance companies, the Gezira scheme administration and other parties, aiming to unify visions to benefit from microfinance to expand the agricultural area to increase production rates at the international levels in light of the high cost of production
