President of Sovereignty Council Returns Home from Saudi Arabia

The President of the Transitional Sovereignty Council, Gen. Abdul-Fattah Al-Burhan, returned to Khartoum Saturday afternoon after an official visit to Saudi Arabia, during which he participated in the China – Arab Summit in Riyadh on Friday.   He was accompanied by the Ministers of Finance and Foreign Affairs.

He was received at Khartoum airport by the member of the Transitional Sovereignty Council, Al-Taher Abu-Bakr Hajar, the Secretary General of the Sovereignty Council, Lt. Gen. Mohamed Al-Ghali Ali Yousif, and a number of ministers.

The acting Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Ali Al-Saddiq, stated in a press statement that the summit came out with three important documents, including the Riyadh Declaration and the document on broad lines of cooperation between China and the Arab countries, through which the Chinese President identified eight areas that shall be accelerated in implementation during the next five years, in addition to the third document concerned with deepening the Chinese – Arab economic partnership.

The acting foreign minister pointed out that the other aspect of Al-Burhan’s participation in the summit was centered on the important bilateral meetings, top of which was the meeting with the Chinese president, who affirmed continuation of the relations and cooperation between the two countriesto achieve the common interests.

He also referred to the meeting of the President of the Transitional Sovereignty Council with the Saudi Crown Prince, during which the Crown Prince affirmed the  readiness of Saudi Arabia to support Sudan through large investments that worth billions of dollars.

Ambassador Al-Saddiq noted that the meeting of the President of the Sovereignty Council with Egyptian President Abdul-Fattah El-Sisi, dealt with the extended relations between the two countries and the projects of electricity connection, railways, roads and ports.
