President of Sovereignty Council Meets Chairperson of African Union Commission

The President of the Transitional Sovereignty Council, Gen. Abdul-Fattah Al-Burhan, has renewed the position of the military institution on the political process in the country, noting that the Armed Forces remained, since the decisions of July 4, 2022, which stipulated the withdrawal of the army from the political process, waiting for a breakthrough to bring Sudan to safety.

This came during his meeting on Saturday at the UN headquarters in New York with the Chairperson of African Union Commission, Moussa Faki, in the presence of the Foreign Minister, Ambassador Ali Al-Saddiq, the Director of the Political Department at the Sovereignty Council, Ambassador Omer Siddiq, and the African Union envoy for Sudan, Dr. Mohamed Al-Hassan Ould Labat.

Gen. Al-Burhan has called on the African Union to resume its stances in support of Sudan.

The meeting discussed the situation in Sudan, especially the political situation and the complications facing the transitional period.

Chairperson of the African Union Commission, Moussa Faki,  has affirmed the African Union readiness to resume its participation in the political process in Sudan.
