National Commission for Human Rights Calls for an End to Violence in Blue Nile

The National Commission for Human Rights has called on the authorities to take all measures to stop the violence in the Localities of Gaisan, Rossaires and Wad Al-Mahi in the Blue Nile region.

The Commission stated in a press statement that it is following up, headquarters and its office in the Blue Nile Sector, the civil dispute that erupted between two groups of components of the local community, which led to violence in some areas of Bakkuri, A-Yas and Gaisan town in Gaisan Locality and in the town of (7) Amdarfa in Wad Al-Mahi Locality, and in Genais neighborhood in Rossaires Locality, which resulted in a number of casualties and injuries.

The commission indicated that it communicated with the authorities in the region, the police forces, all the stakeholders and its office and visited the hospital and inspected the conditions of the wounded perrons, wishing mercy for the victims and speedy recovery for the injured persons.

The National Commission for Human Rights called on the competent authorities to intervene quickly and to take all measures to stop civil violence, protect the citizens, investigate in  the violence incidents, and bring those involved to a fair trial, affirming its follow-up and monitoring of the events.
