Minister of Animal Resources Concludes Visits to East Sudan States

The Minister of Animal Resources, Hafez Ibrahim Abdul-Nabi, and the accompanying delegation Sunday evening concluded their visit to the Red Sea State as part of a tour to eastern Sudan, which included also Gedarif and Kassala States.

During the tour, the minister and the accompanying delegation got informed on the performance at the animal resources’ sector, the challenges facing this sector as well as the ways to develop the animal resources’ sector and to increase its productivity.

The minister met with the Walis (governors) of the three states and discussed with them the issues of the animal resources’ sector and ways to overcome the obstacles facing it.

He also met with producers, breeders and exporters of livestock and listened to their issues. The Minister and his accompanying delegation visited livestock quarantines, slaughter-houses, livestock markets and veterinary laboratories in these states and inspected the progress of work in them.

During the tour to the eastern states, two agreements were signed; one was on establishment of a veterinary quarantine for exports in Gedarif state with international standards, in partnership with the private sector, and the second agreement was a memorandum of understanding with the French Rex Meat Company for marketing and exporting meat to the European countries, Indonesia and Malaysia.
