Military Committee and Trilateral Facilitating Mechanism Hold Second Consultative Meeting

Khartoum,  (SUNA) – The second consultative meeting of the military committee and the trilateral committee for facilitating the Sudanese dialogue, which is composed of the United Nations, the African Union and IGAD, was held Wednesday at the Republican Palace. The military committee was headed the Vice – President of the Transitional Sovereignty Council, Gen. Mohamed Hamdan Daglo, and included the committee’s members Gen. Shams-Eddin Kabbashi, and Gen. Ibrahim Jabir. The trilateral committee’s side included the special envoy of the UN Secretary General and Head of the UN Integrated Transition Assistance Mission in Sudan (UNITAMS), Volker Perthes, the Representative of the African Union to Khartoum, ambassador  Mohamed Belaiche, and the IGAD envoy, Ismail Wais. The representative of the African Union to Sudan and spokesperson of the mechanism, ambassador Mohamed Belaiche, said in a press statement that the meeting, which was characterized by a positive and constructive spirit, dealt with issues related to the direct dialogue expected next week between the Sudanese stakeholders to reach a consensus to arrange for governance in the country, in a manner that meets the aspiration of the Sudanese people for civil democratic transformation and the building of a new Sudan.
