Kabbashi meets Machar and Abdel Baqi

Member of the Transitional Sovereignty Council, Lieutenant General Shams al-Deen Kabbashi, met, separately, today in the city of Juba, First Vice President of the Republic of South Sudan, Dr. Riek Machar, and Vice- President of the Republic of South Sudan, Hussein Abdel-Baqi.

  The meeting dealt with the bilateral relations between the two countries and the importance of enhancing and developing cooperation and joint coordination between Khartoum and Juba in various fields.

Acting Foreign Minister, Ambassador Ali Al-Sadiq, said in a press statement that the meetings reviewed the role that Sudan can play in assisting the parties to the revitalized South Sudan Peace Agreement in settling the transitional conditions in the Republic of South Sudan, and then working to end the period of the current transition according to the peace agreement, to reach the stage of elections.

The minister referred to the spirit of optimism and brotherhood that prevailed in the two meetings, noting that the meetings will continue until results are reached in the interest of the two countries and the region.
