Kabbashi meets feminist agenda group

– The member of the Transitional Sovereign Council, the head of the government’s negotiating delegation, Lieutenant General Shams Eddin Kabbashi, met today at the Crown Hotel in Juba, the Feminist Agenda Group, in the presence of Buthaina Dinar, the Minister of Federal Government, and Tayseer Al-Nawarni, the Minister of Labor and Administrative Reform.

The meeting discussed, in general,  the women’s issues and the need for their participation in the ongoing negotiation process between the transitional government and the Sudan People’s Liberation Movement – North, led by Abdul Aziz Al- Hilo.

The representative of the Feminist Agenda Group, Maha Zainul Abdeen, noted in press statements that the meeting comes within the framework of enhancing the role of women and their participation in the negotiation process, supporting the peace process, ensuring the integration of gender issues in the peace file, and bringing points of view closer to the negotiating parties.

“We found commitment from the member of the Transitional Sovereign Council, head of the government negotiating delegation, to raise the percentage of women’s representation in technical committees on negotiation files.” Maha added.
