Higher joint council on security arrangements meets

The deputy chairman of the higher joint military committee on the security arrangements – Darfur Track, Lt. Gen. Dr. Suliman Sandal has said that the higher joint council held its first meeting at the Republican Palace yesterday, headed by President of the Transitional Sovereignty Council (TSC) Gen. Abdel-Fattah Al-Burhan.

The meeting was attended by First Vice President of TSC Gen. Mohamed Hamdan Daglo, leaders of armed struggle movements, Ministers of Defense and Interior, Directors of General Intelligence Service and Police, the deputy chief of joint staff and the commissioner of peace.

Sandal pointed out in a press statement that the meeting stressed the importance of this protocol and the will to press ahead and facing the challenges in a collective way so that all obstacles would be removed.

The meeting reviewed the situation of the security arrangements and the mechanisms of command and control.

It also stressed importance of forming the higher mechanism vis-à-vis the issue of prisoners of war and missing persons.
