Hamdouk Orders Sending Ministerial Delegation To Kassala

Khartoum  (SUNA) – The Prime Minister, Dr. Abdalla Hamdouk, has given a directive for sending a high-level ministerial delegation to Kassala State to offer condolences on the victims of the recent events in Kassala city and to inspect the situation there.

Dr. Hamdouk received on Thursday 27th August an additional report on the issue from the security authorities after receiving an initial report Wednesday regarding the unfortunate events in Kassala city.

The report referred to the need to send urgent reinforcements to Kassala due to the developments and events there and the violations at a march that was staged on Thursday.

The reports stated that the central office which was formed to monitor the situation in Kassala State has obtained preliminary information about the perpetrators of the bloody events during which armed persons and five persons who looted properties.

It was reported that at least two persons were killed due to the events and violations.

Earlier, The Prime Minister had instructed the security authorities at to strengthen the security and police presence and gave directives to continue close monitoring of the events and to provide continuous reports on the incidents in Kassala city.

He also appreciated the immediate dealing of the regular forces, represented by the police, Armed Forces and the Rapid Support Forces, with the events in Kassala city.
