Gatluak stresses importance of reaching final solution to Abyei issue

South Sudan Presidential Adviser Tut Gatluak has stressed importance of reaching a final solution to the Abyei issue, noting that Abyei citizens had paid the bill of tensions in the area.

Gatluak said in his address at Al-Salam Rotana Hotel today to the joint meeting between Sudan and South Sudan to reach a final solution to the Abyei issue, which was addressed by the Vice-President of the Transitional Sovereignty Council and Head of the Supreme Committee for Political and Administrative Oversight of the Abyei area, General Mohamed Hamdan Daglo, that  they came carrying clear instruction from President of South Sudan Salva Kiir Mayardit to consult on resolving the issue, calling on Misseriya and Dinka Ngok to contribute to resolving the Abyei issue, reviewing the history of coexistence between the two tribes in the area.

Gatluak reviewed the efforts of the Abyei issue committees in South Sudan and Sudan to discuss the issue in all its aspects to reach a final solution, stressing their readiness to reach a final solution to the issue and to reach the best and optimal solution.

He said that Abyei area concerns Sudan and South Sudan and needs development and stability among all components, stressing the importance of sitting down to deliberate on the issue with the participation of all parties in order to reach a sustainable peace for the area.
