Foreign Ministry Briefs International Organizations on Situation in Darfur

he acting Undersecretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Abdalla Omer Bashir, Monday presented at the headquarters of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs a briefing to the international and regional organizations accredited in Sudan on the developments in the security situation in Darfur.

The undersecretary has praised the role being played by the organizations in supporting the people of the Darfur region to achieve security and stability, pointing to the necessity of providing security in Darfur so that the organizations can play the required role.

He pointed to the importance of support to Sudan in the current transitional period, explaining that a meeting in Al-Fasher has stressed the importance of work to maintain peace and security in Darfur, protect civilians, and regroup armed struggle movements outside the cities before February 9, 2022, and to implement joint campaigns after these forces leave the cities.

The briefing included eight points, the most important of which was the reference to the visit of the President of the Transitional Sovereignty Council to the Darfur Region during February 2 – 3 to discuss the file of security arrangements.
