Finance Minister calls for strengthening Sudan’s efforts to achieve economic development

Minister of Finance and Economic Planning Dr. Gibril Ibrahim has affirmed that Sudan is working on finding economic reforms and resorting to self-resources.

Dr. 1brahim, addressing the International Monetary Fund (IMF) meeting held these days in Washington in the presence of finance ministers and central bank governors in the Middle East and North Africa, Afghanistan and Pakistan, pointed to the economic developments that Sudan is witnessing, especially in the agricultural sector, indicating that this sector needs inputs, calling for boosting efforts for its development and achieving the slogan of “Sudan is the world’s food basket,” which can only be realized by providing the necessary support.

The Minister called for strengthening efforts to work towards achieving economic renaissance in Sudan, praising the role played by the International Monetary Fund, especially with regard to the support provided to Sudan in the year 2021.

It is noteworthy that Sudan participates in the meetings of the International Monetary Fund within the first African Group (Sub-Saharan Group), which consists of 22 countries, including Tanzania, Sudan, South Africa, Burundi and Namibia that brings together bank governors, finance ministers, civil society, private sector executives and academics in these countries.
